Netflix has just released a Death Note trailer, their newest newest film by director Adam Wingrad. In the trailer we see a young student played by actor Nat Wolff who receives a supernatural book from the heavens. The book has “Death Note” written on the cover and student later finds out that whoever’s name that he writes inside of the book will die. A series of unfortunate deaths and untimely killings occurs as the student who goes by the name Light kills whomever he pleases. Part of the film will follow Light and how he uses the supernatural book in evil ways, using it to kill some of his most hated enemies. The film will also follow actor Lakeith Stanfield , who plays a detective tasked to hunt and stop the student from using the supernatural book to hurt others.

The Death Note trailer also slightly reveals the other main character in the film which is the Shinigami. The Shinigami character is also known as the custodian of the Death Note or spirit of death. This character is tied to the supernatural book and has to carry out the killings that the handler of the book wishes. Another character that will be included in the film is Kira, an alter-ego that Light uses to reshape his surrounding world and pretend that he is not the killer. This film is based off of the Japanese magna series written by Light Yagami. We’re really excited to see more of the film revealed to us in the coming months, and think that this will be one of Netflix’s top releases of 2017.
The film will premier on Netflix August 25th and we will most likely see more Death Note trailer teasers released by Netflix in the near future. If you liked this article and want to read more about upcoming Netflix releases, please check out our article on Netflix’s new Chappelle Show.
